Teachers

Youngdon & Dawa

Flouer & Miguel

Flouer Evelyne : Deeply curious about the intersection of movement and culture, Flouer brings academic rigor and heartfelt warmth to every class. She believes that dance is a pathway to authentic self-expression and meaningful connection, helping students discover not just how to move, but who they are when they move.

Originally from New York City and now based in Italy, Flouer has an MFA in contemporary dance and experience across a multitude of dance forms. She has been teaching blues internationally since 2010 and has won numerous competitions along the way. She is known for weaving together technical precision with rich cultural storytelling, connecting you to the historical roots of our dance. Her approach emphasizes both artistry and embodiment, helping you feel the dance from the inside out while discovering your own authentic expression within tradition.

“The reason to master technique is so the body does not prevent the soul from expressing itself”  https://flouerdances.com

Miguel A. Cruz : Miguel has been teaching Blues dance in Spain, in Barcelona, since 2015. He is completely passionate about this dance and the style of music. Apart from Barcelona, his hometown, where he regularly teaches Blues dance 3 days per week, he’s also given courses throughout Spain but also internationally, mostly in France but also punctually in South Korea, Greece, China and South Africa.
He enjoys investigating and delving into Blues Aesthetics and the Blues Idiom Dances as the cornerstone of his classes. Also in his classes you will get continuous references of historical and cultural aspects of the African-American creators of this music and dance.
Since 2015, he has also co-organized the Cocoa Blues Exchange festival in Barcelona, a major Blues dance festival that brings together dancers from all over the world.

Justinas & Meda

Justinas and Meda started teaching together in 2021. They both are active local scene builders and organizers as they belong to the core Bluesila and Beet’n’Blues organizing team. Being very different (Justinas is also an engineer who loves numbers while Meda works in communication and prefers words to numbers) they share a common goal – they strive to make things very clear for their students. Combining different styles, meticulous and detailed exercises with improvisation while having fun (and an occasional bad joke) – that’s what their classes are all about!

Justinas’ friendship with Blues is as old as the blues dance scene in Lithuania itself. Having discovered Lindy Hop back in 2009 a year later he found Blues dancing. Having completely fallen in love with this dance, he started to teach in 2013. Despite being in the scene for quite some time Justinas is still in love with the dance as he continues to find new things to add to his dance.

Meda has been enamored with blues music since her teenage years but discovered dancing as an adult back in 2014 and started actively dancing in 2015. She adores the vastness of blues, the rhythmic and style variety. Meda quite often travels all around Europe to blues festivals to deepen or refresh her knowledge. Constantly seeking inspiration, on the side she also dabbles in other dance families such as afro dances and swing but her true love has always been blues.

Alina Sokulska

A Ukrainian with Syrian roots, born in Kyiv, based in Barcelona, alina sokulska is a choreographer, dance & performance artist.
Doctor of Philosophy in Comparative Literature and Performance Studies, MA graduate in Literary Studies, and having studied choreography at Conservatori Superior de Danza, Institut del Teatre in Barcelona, she is continuing her artistic research within the medium of movement.
Alina’s experience of choreographing live with jazz and improvisational music has shaped her movement language and pushed her to develop her approach to rhythm in dance improvisation and spontaneous composition.
In her work, she examines how power dynamics influence bodily representations and how the body, as a subject of tangible reality, can challenge and expand our understanding of the complexities within the current epistemic framework. These questions aligned her research endeavour in both in artistic and academic practices.
Alina’s works have been recognized internationally and shown at leading music and dance festivals and venues in Europe, as well as art institutions.

Nico & Alina

Alina & Nicolas

Classes with them – a fascinating blend of French charm and eastern austerity – are ultimately a joyful encounter, where everyone laughs and feels free to express themselves. Smiles and passion are always there, they like to share their knowledge in a relaxed and good mood.
We can count on Alina and her love of rigor to keep the cours serious, and on the historical digressions of Nico (graduate in history) to travel and learn while having fun!

As each of them has their own independent dance background and experience, their dancing style is rich in different techniques. Tango, hip-hop, classical, contemporary dance and later lindy hop and blues – all these different families of dance now help them in understanding mechanics and aesthetics of the body and the way of moving according to the traditions of different dances. Relying on feelings and self-expression, virtuously combining their experience in dance, with every dance they build their unique universe of blues.

Nicolas and Alina are based in Rennes (France), where they are organizing numerous events and teaching in a school called “Dance Addict”, established by Nicolas in 2014. They have already taught together in their native France, Belarus, and beyond, took prizes in competitions separately and in a couple.
Many years of experience across Europe and the discovery of different visions, techniques and teaching methods strengthen their partnership, enrich it, and constantly inspire them for new projects.

Vaiva & Collin

Vaiva Gudaitytė: Vaiva is not only a blues dancer and teacher but also sings with VAIVA’s BLUES, making her an active and vibrant part of the international blues community. In her classes, Vaiva often hums tunes and bringing joy to her students is a number one goal. Her true focus in dance lies in enjoyment and letting movement flow naturally. Having a background in education science, she treats every class as a possibility to share and to connect. To Vaiva, dancing is about freeing the mind and living in the moment, creating harmony between music and movement. For her, the blues is a feeling and an opportunity to merge with the connections it offers — whether with oneself, the music, or a dance partner.

Collin van den Broek: Collin got hooked to swing and blues dancing in 2015, mainly focusing on his love for the blues in the last couple of years as an international dancer and teacher. Being a drummer as well, he has a close relationship with the rhythmical foundations of all kinds of music, which is visible in his dancing and is always present in his teaching. His love for the diversity in blues developed, extended and made him look for more inspiration on the timeline of African American vernacular music and dancing, such as different styles of afro, funk and house. All to take it back to the dance floor. Collin is also an actor and therefore he knows how to make things playful.

Bands

Helena & Mike

Kévin Doublé 4tet

Kévin Doublé 4tet

Kévin Doublé discovered his passion for the Blues at the age of 15 and found his mentors through artists such as Sonny Terry, Muddy Waters, Joe Williams, and Nat King Cole.

Since then, he has multiplied musical adventures, performing in duos with Julien Brunetaud, Arnaud Fradin, Éric C, as well as in bands such as Scratch My Back, Josh Miller, and Le Swing Society.

He notably received the Hot Club de France Award for his first album Blues in the Morning and played harmonica on the hit track Down the Road by C2C in 2011.

Today, he performs in a quartet built around an original repertoire where Blues and Jazz blend beautifully with contagious energy.
The mesmerizing double bass of Anthony Muccio and the relentless swing of Gabor Turi on drums provide a dream rhythm section for the virtuosic piano of Pierre Le Bot, and the smooth, deep voice of Kévin Doublé.

Two Roots

Because they are roots and because they are two.

Back to the roots: this is literally the journey that Two Roots offers in this performance.

With their feet as roots, guitarist Charles and singer Sophia Tahi return to the essence: African roots and the trance of the “Delta Juke Joints.”

When Charles blues-inspired sound meets Sophia’s deep voice, the two musicians ignite, letting their soul and heart speak directly. And it’s a music full of joy, hope, and generosity that they deliver on stage, much to the delight of their audience.

All that’s missing is a good moonshine to enjoy its refreshing, life-giving taste.

Around Midnight

Around Midnight

A trio that will make you dance to blues in its own way. If you listen closely, you’ll recognize some slightly offbeat melodies in a warm and original late-evening atmosphere.
Juliette Chevalier’s sweet voice will be accompanied on guitar by Arnaud Lacarte and on double bass by Hugues Lassere.

Morvan Leray

And finally, we are happy to present to you the last pearl of our weekend, Morvan Leray, with whom we will spend warm moments during the After on Saturday and the Farewell Party on Sunday!

From Bon Iver to Van Morrison through the greatest standards of Jazz, Blues and other pop folk songs, Mo sings, accompanied by his guitar and his love for song. But he doesn’t just cover these pieces, he puts them back to his taste, relying on the emotion of the moment and the place where he finds himself.

Mo is not only a singer, he is an interpreter, one of those who appropriate music to extract the very essence of what it wants to convey. A voice with varied palettes, sometimes suave, sometimes hoarse, a sober guitar playing offering just what is needed to appreciate the moment, and ask it to last… a little longer.

George Trubnikov

And our special guest …

George Trubnikov

Based in Lithuania, George is a vocalist, trumpeter, and bandleader working in the world of jazz and blues. He is drawn to music that swings, breathes, and leaves space for interaction — both on stage and with the audience. As a bandleader, George focuses on groove, phrasing, and real-time communication, keeping every performance flexible and alive.

Alongside performing, George teaches Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, and Blues Dance. His teaching is strongly shaped by his musical background, with rhythm, musicality, and body awareness at the core. He helps dancers move with the music rather than against it, find ease at higher tempos, and enjoy the physical conversation that swing and blues dances are built on.

Living and working in Lithuania, he performs, teaches classes and workshops, and collaborates with musicians and dancers across the scene. Whether leading a band or teaching a dance floor full of people, his goal is simple — to share joy, connection, and the feeling that music and movement are one.
